The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.
George Velis was born in Nebraska in 1947. He grew up in Spokane and attended Wilson and Roosevelt Elementary Schools, Sacajawea Junior High and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1965.
He received his undergraduate degree and pre-dental training from Washington State University. He graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska in 1972.
Dr. Velis has participated in several study clubs through the years including Dr. David Baird’s cosmetic dentistry study club as well as additional cosmetic training at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies in 1999. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Inland Empire Dental Association.
He has practiced in the Spokane Valley since 1972. His daughter Alexi and her husband have presented him with his first grandchild, Thomas. His son, Nicholas, has joined him in the dental practice. He is an avid sports fan and has sponsored many youth sports teams.
Nicholas Velis was born and raised in the Spokane valley and attended Ponderosa and Horizon Jr. High. He graduated high school from Gonzaga Prep in 2001 before moving to get his undergraduate degree at Santa Clara University.
While at Creighton University Dental School Nick served on the Dental Student Union as President and Vice President. After obtaining his D.D.S. he then attended Dugoni Pacific School of Dentistry, receiving a certificate of completion in Advance Education in General Dentistry. While at Dugoni Pacific, Nick gained additional training in comprehensive care including many complex cases and surgical procedures. Nick has also successfully achieved his fellowship in the academy of general dentistry.
Nick is excited to be back in Spokane working with his father and enjoying his time with family and friends.
Born and raised in the Spokane Valley, Dr Jennifer Numata-Kosaka has known Dr. Nick and the Velis family since she was very young. She attended Ponderosa Elementary and Horizon Junior High with Dr. Nick, then continued on to graduate from University High School. Dr. Jennifer is excited to join this wonderful practice and have the opportunity to work alongside such amazing people.
Dr. Jennifer originally planned to follow her father’s footsteps into family medicine, but ultimately developed a passion for dentistry and continued on to receive both her under graduate degree and her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Washington.
Dr. Jennifer practiced in Seattle for several years before she and her husband decided to move back to Spokane to be closer to her family. She is happy to be back home and a part of the Spokane community once again with her husband, their two daughters and their dog.
Anita has been a chairside assistant for over 30 years and recently transitioned to the front office as a Co-coordinator for treatment, insurance management, helping patients file dental insurance claims, financial arrangements and scheduling. Anita has been with Velis Family Dental since 2002. She enjoys traveling, camping, kayaking and the outdoors. Anita is the mother of 2 kids and 5 grandchildren and lives in the Spokane Valley.
Crissi worked as a chairside assistant for over 25 years. She has been with Velis family dental since 2004. In the last 3 years she has transitioned to the front office as a schedule coordinator. She enjoys meeting people and building their confidence in creating the best dental experience they can have. She loves anything that involves hot, sunny weather, spending time with her 2 kids, family and friends.
Co-coordinator for treatment and insurance management. Kathy works with patients filing their dental insurance claims as well as making financial arrangements and scheduling appointments. Has been with Velis family dental since 1994. Kathy enjoys working with patients, getting to know their families, and having the satisfaction of helping people feel better about their smile. Kathy is married, the mother of three, grandmother of four and lives in the Spokane area.
Carrie is a dental hygienist. She graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene and a Master’s Degree in Adult Education. She taught dental hygiene for 18 years and has been a practicing hygienist since 1984. Carrie has two daughters. She enjoys being active with snow skiing, water skiing, hiking and rock climbing and mountaineering. She also enjoys helping others outdoors and guides hikes in Switzerland part of her summers. She is passionate about helping others achieve optimal oral and total body health.
Linette is a Spokane native who obtained her Bachelor’s of science in Dental hygiene at Eastern Washington University. She’s been practicing dental hygienist for 27 years here in Spokane and has worked in all aspects of General and Periodontal practices. She also enjoys and currently teaches part-time as a clinical professor at EWU’s dental hygiene program. The profession of dental hygiene has given her a passion and purpose in helping others obtain oral and system health for a more enriching experience for her patients to obtain full body health.
She loves the PNW and all it has to offer for hiking, camping, skiing and running! One of her biggest delights is supporting and watching her 2 boys who run collegiately at the University of Boulder and University of Arkansas; Go Buffs and Hogs!!
Roberta has been practicing dental hygiene since 1987. A long time Spokane Valley resident, she enjoys the many outdoor recreational activities the area has to offer. She has a son, daughter and one grandson. Roberta enjoys working with people and genuinely cares about each patient’s oral health.
Megan was born and raised here in the Spokane Valley. She graduated from CVHS and also from Spokane Community College’s dental assistant program in 2001. She’s been a registered dental assistant here locally ever since. In Megan’s spare time, she enjoys being with her family and close friends, camping, hiking, cooking, gardening, watching movies and traveling.
Hello, my name is Angie. I have been a dental assistant for almost 19 years. I attended the Dental assisting program at Spokane skill center my junior-senior years of high school while working for a dentist. After graduating high school I worked at a nursing home in the kitchen and missed the dental field, so I decided to go back to dental assisting school and pursue that as my career. I graduated in 2001 from Apollo college, which is now Carrington college, where I received my dental assisting certification. I have two teenage children with whom I enjoy spending time with the most when I am not working. I love racing BMX bikes, camping and just being outdoors.
Hi, my name is Paige Wright. I’m from a small town called McCleary, on the west side of Washington. I graduated from Spokane community college in 2018. I interned at Velis family dental at the end of my program and was hired after my 2-week internship. My hobbies are hiking, running and spending time with my husband and kitty Lulu.
Crissi works as a chairside assistant performing expanded duties, taking x-rays, sterilization, patient care and time management. In the dental field for over 20 years, she has been here since 2004. She enjoys meeting new people and building their confidence in creating the best smile they can have. She graduated from Spokane Community College with a degree in Dental Assisting. Crissi is the mother of 2, lives in Spokane Valley and in her spare time loves to travel and spend time with family.
