Why flossing is important
A recent article from the Associated Press has caused interest in whether flossing really works.
It is important to note that the American Dental Association, which is the leading source of oral health information, still recommends flossing once a day to remove plaque that toothbrushes can not reach.
Flossing in between your teeth has many benefits you may not even know about. Every day your mouth comes into contact with many different types of bacteria including, food, drinks, pens, nails, money and everything else you handle which may end up in your mouth.
Gum disease is common in adults. It causes gums to be swollen, sore or inflamed. Even if you are brushing twice a day, you may be leaving bacteria between your teeth. The best way to remove as much bacteria as possible is by flossing. In recent reports, there are links to be made between gum disease and heart disease.
We all know that morning breath does not always smell like roses! Flossing can help get rid of the odor in your mouth by getting rid of the bacteria that causes it.
